Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! 🎃 I hope everyone has a nice and spooky day!

To me it doesn’t really feel like Halloween, which is down to the sickness and glasses.(which means spooky season is extended till next month which I had intended anyway.) So there’s no really spooky stuff around. I haven’t put up any of the new decorations I got, or painted the things I picked up which sucks. Hopefully I can get into the Halloween spirit today.

So I had intended yesterday to see Frankenstein, but when the day came I didn’t feel up to it. When I woke I felt a it funny, but thought it was just down to hunger but it was there after eating which ugh. It sucks, but I’m hoping to see it next week (thank fuck they extended the run cause all there is this week is night showings).

Instead yesterday was another day spent bundled and resting.

It did mean that I was in to watch two new trailers. There’s the new one for Stranger Things which looks so great (I still need to watch the finale for season 4, hopefully I will this weekend). Please Stranger Things, don’t kill off Steve this season.

Also there was a surprise new thing from Nintendo, with Animal Crossing getting a new update. I assumed it would just be enhanced graphics and stuff for the switch 2 but nope! There’s a new hotel, storage updates, slumber islands and there’s collab stuff including Zelda! The new Zelda items look cool so I have a mighty need! (Thankfully I just found my game so I know where it is) I do wonder if there’s other stuff they’re holding back (I’d not be surprised, especially since the update is January) and I guess it does mean there’s not a new game for the switch 2 coming for awhile.

We usually watch Taskmaster last night (and celebrity traitors today) but mum wanted to watch it last night (which surprised me cause she’d been dozing all night). I’m glad they finally got a traitor on Wednesday but damn! I’m so sad that Celia is gone, she was so fun.

I had an email last night too from the cinema and they’re showing the final next week (for free too!) which is a surprise.

I also decided to sort Now tv (I had planned to depending on how going out went) and damn I made the dumbest mistake. I put in the wrong email. I somehow combined both my main email and my iPad one and didn’t realise until I was logging in after making it. Thankfully the username wasn’t taken so now I have that email but the verification emails still hasn’t come through so I have to chase that up, ugh.

So I did watch the first IT Welcome To Derry ep last night. Now I have never watched IT, it’s one of those horror things that’s kinda passed me by (Nightmare on Elm street is another big one) so why am I watching a prequel to a think I’ve not seen before? (To the point of even getting a new thing specifically for it)

To that I answer two words (or rather one name): Joshua Odijick.

Listen, I’m a simple creature, if you tell me a beautiful man is in a thing I am likely to see a thing. (And it’s already got me to see The Long Walk and get Wildhood, both of which I’ve talked about and I had already unknowingly seen him in Ghe Swarm last year.) He wasn’t in the first ep, which I knew already so what’re my thoughts of ep 1?

(Thoughts under the cut so if you’re avoiding spoilers. Scroll quick)

My Halloween plans for today are the following:
*Start the beautiful version of Halloween Party that I got for Christmas (and so had saved till now)
*Sort the pumpkin carving (and have pumpkin soup! Though it’s more vegetable with pumpkin but still)
*Seapeekay spooky game stream
*Return To Paradise/Sister Boniface Mysteries
*IT Welcome To Derry ep 2 (cause it’s been put up early for Halloween)
*Trick R Treat (my traditional Halloween film)
*Attempt to finish the last quests on Fortnite/Fall Guys for Halloween stuff

Spooky season updates

Doing a spooky season update post now before Frankenstein tomorrow. (It’s a lot slimmer causa sickness but..)

Day 22: Pokémon ZA, eso

Pokémon ZA ahas mostly been running from alpha Pokémon and beating rogue mega evolutions. Hpwever today’s also featured exploring the sewers and it honestly felt nice to explore a ‘dungeon’ location. It’s a same it’s the first (and probably only) one cause it was pretty fun to explore (though I know there’s places I can’t get to yet). I’ve also finally changed one of my Pokémon, but the one I changed is now so under levelled it’s a struggle.

Day 23: Black Phone 2, Pokémon thrills and chills stream

Black Phone 2 was discussed here. I can’t remember all that much of the Pokémon stream alas, but I feel it was random ones again.

Day 24: monster train 2

Monster train was just a quick run, I didn’t do too well cause my focus was off. I’ve never actually completed a run on either monster train alas. The difficulty just ramps up like crazy.

Day 25: nine bodies in a Mexican morgue, treehouse of horror vi + vii

Nine Bodies was… interesting. It narrowed the group down to five at the start of the ep and that number just kept shrinking as it went on. In some ways it did feel like a finale ep, but there’s still one ep to go and the killer has t been revealled. (I’ll be so frustrated by it if it is a random other person like it seems to imply)

I watched Treehouse Of Horror eps while my pad did an update (I don’t like how it’s changed things) and they were both pretty solid entries. I had considered watching another tonight but I don’t think I have the focus.

Day 26: High Potential - Chasing Ghosts, Pokémon ZA, nightwatch

High Potential had a Halloween ep! And it was so great, possibly my fav of the season so far. A+ work on them deciding to have a spooky themed ep releasing now.

Also there was Nightwatch, where Daisy May Cooper and her brother stay at haunted locations. This was the first ep and it felt like it should have been longer than half an hour. It was fun, but there wasn’t really much ghost hunting.

Day 27: Strange New Worlds, ESO

I already commented on Strange New Workds, which was a great ep. But otherwise the day was more focussed on resting with occasional games of marvel snap (which is Halloween themed right now) and trying to get the last spooky season rewards on Fortnite and Fall Guys.

Day 28: Spooky season mix came,

Yesterday was a tiring day so I didn’t do much spooky (other than the aforementioned gaming for spooky rewards) but I got sent a spooky mix cd and cute Halloween card! Alas cause of all the stuff going on I’ve not had a chance to listen but hopefully soon.

Day 29: Pokémon ZA, War Of The Worlds [2025]

Finally there is the new War Of The Worlds film which I just watched. (The amazon one with ice cube.)

A found footage type war of the worlds could, in theory, be a really great concept. This attempt at it wasn’t it though. Like, I can see what they were going for but it doesn’t quite work.

There’s a variety of reasons that it doesn’t. The main guy starts off as creepy (following his daughters movements on security cams, hacking her fridge, deleting stuff off his son’s computer) and it genuinely feels like he was more interested in spying on them than doing his actual spying job.

It gets better once the ‘meteors’ arrive, causing destruction and then revealing their tripods (which are a cool design). But then another of its flaws show up. This whole film is essentially real time and yet everything is happening so fast. You mean to tell me every nation on earth decides to put their differences aside and co-ordinate an offensive in a matter of minutes? Or that there’s news reports of everything happening as it’s happening? Plus there was the whole reason the tripods are here they want our data to feed on. Which just feels… absurd?

However, I came into this expecting it to be terrible and honestly? I liked it more than I expected to. Like it’s still not great but there are some good things. Like I said the tripods are cool and most of the supporting cast did a good job (or at least as best as they could). It was mostly filmed during covid so it is pretty good what they could accomplish filming wise. (I feel people would be more forgiving if it hadn’t been held back for years and become so distant from then)

Would I recommend it? I’m not sure. If you go in with low expectations you’ll probably find something to like, but if you want a good war of the worlds film there are so many better options.

And there was some rejoicing

So after yesterday’s post (and victory with getting my ticket!), I had a call from mum at the library. Apparently she had decided to call up about my glasses while there and found they were ready, but needed me down there for something.

Mum’s friend offered to take me down to pick them up, plus take us to the vets so that was a relief. So yay glasses are sorted, woo! So that should mean headaches will lessen and I can see things better. It turns turn out I need some new test to do with peripheral vision though I need to change the date.

Naryu’s vet trip was felt a bit pointless. Her ears are improving but they still want her to come in at least one more time which is so annoying. At least it didn’t cost anything this time, but it sounds like that was the last of the free consultations with the pet plan which feels like a waste considering nothing was done.

We also picked something mum ordered from sainsburys, but one of the things, a pair of nightmare before Christmas socks, was missing from the bag. We did get a refund, but it’s a shame.

Cause of the vets the food shoe came in the night which is never ideal so it made the day more tiring.

Today’s ended up being a rest day cause of that. I had considered seeing Frankenstein, after all that was the original plan, but decided not to. The plan now (cause I am feeling much better), is to go and see it tomorrow lunch time, but only it (had considered seeing it and Shelby Oaks). I’m hoping to see Shelby Oaks next week, maybe Wednesday cause it’s the only day that has a showing in daylight (albeit at 10am).

Doctor Who is officially coming back next year with a Christmas special then full series. But ugh it’s so annoying that the Disney partnership screwed things over as much as it had. Now Disney aren’t part of it anymore so hopefully things will go smoother, but I’m still pissed at how the last season ended.

Tonight I’m gonna bundle up and watch Celebrity Traitors (which is almost over what) and then I might watch the new War Of The Worlds. I have heard it is terrible but I’ve morbidly curious about it.

Next week we are meant to be going out, cause mum’s friend has to drop some money into the bank (mum and her volunteer with a cancer charity and this is one of the things). The local bank they used has gone so we’re going to a shopping Center place, which I’ve not been to before. Hopefully it’ll be an interesting day but who knows.

Now I’m gonna go back on Pokémon ZA and give Midna snuggles.

This guy!

I somehow was blessed by the ticket gods and actually managed to get a ticket this time. (I wasn’t anywhere near as stressful as Sleep Token which had meant I needed to use a whole other site)

I did have to search a few times. The first ticket that came up was way at the back and I knew I’d not be able to see a thing. (And yeah I went for seating, I know there’s no way I could see from the standing area.) after a few searches of ‘nothing available’ one came up and it’s crazy that the first ticket was way at the back and this one was at the side of the stage* so of course I nabbed that even though it was more than I expected.

*It seems to be block 1 which is right next to the stage and the row is pretty close to, but the site doesn’t have a thing to clearly show where the ticket is and gives you just under 2 minutes to make the decision so I had to act fast. I’m assuming as the price is the highest of the listed seating prices that I’m right.

VIP sounds ludicrous though, it’s an extra few hundred on too (I’m not kidding one of the vip options was £300) which sounds absurd especially because it’s so vague. One of the things is you get an ‘exclusive merchandise package’ but it doesn’t say what that means. Is it a tee? A hoodie? A pen? It could be anything and that feels off putting to me (especially since I saw one thing say a meet and greet isn’t listed so what’s the point?)

But anyway! Yipee I’ve got the ticket so now I can rest easy for the rest of the day.

Ugh the last few days have ended up being so exhausting.

So last Wednesday I didn’t feel quite right but I just assumed it was a tummy bug, caused by something I ate, cause I felt fine enough to head out Thursday morning. When I came back I was tired but just assumed that was from being out.

Nope. That night I couldn’t sleep cause I felt I was gonna be sick (thankfully I wasn’t) and so I’ve spent the past days being completely drained and icky (plus coughing which is so annoying)

I did try to push myself to go with mum to the vets but we got to the park and it started raining which mum used as an excuse to drag me back home. (I refused to let her walk that way alone) She booked us in again, but tomorrow which is a food shop day so that’s been annoying to sort.

I am feeling a little better, I was able to walk outside and have food that’s not soup or toast.

But ugh it has been so annoying and draining and just… bleh. And I am so annoyed I’d not been able to do the things I hate planned (mostly watching spooky things).

I am still hoping to see Frankenstein this week, though the showing I was aiming for has gone and I dunno why (is it just a website glitch or has that showing been cancelled?). The good thing is if I don’t feel up to it the run has been extended for a week which is good. I am hoping my glasses will be sorted before I see it too.

(And yesterday I felt better enough to do some of Pokémon, and I got another shiny!)

Today was the dumb phone call (thankfully short cause I was coughing) and I watched the second Strange New Worlds ep. I really liked this one and it feels crazy that this one episode gave us more info on Uhura than all of the original series combined. (And it being an ep focussed on her was a good call, it made me think of a Hoshi one from early Enterprise.) Plus I loved the whole mystery of the thing and how we don’t really learn anything about the ‘comet’?

Hopefully tomorrow I can get the 5 Seconds Of Summer ticket then uni read (I have to mail the tutor about sickness but haven’t had the energy) and then it’s vets which… ugh it’s gonna take the day away.

Question though, does anyone have Now tv? I’m considering getting it to see IT Welcome To Derry (which is 124% down to Joshua Odijick being in it) and wondered if anyone has Now and has thoughts on it?

Good morning, afternoon, and evening!

We're doing some database and other light server maintenance this weekend (upgrading the version of MySQL we use in particular, but also probably doing some CDN work.)

I expect all of this to be pretty invisible except for some small "couple of minute" blips as we switch between machines, but there's a chance you will notice something untoward. I'll keep an eye on comments as per usual.

Ta for now!

So today I ended up going to the cinema again. My original intent was to go and see Black Phone 2 and Paranorman, but I didn’t feel up to watching a second film (and felt there might be too much noise). There was a morning showing and an afternoon one, with the afternoon being my original intent but at the last minute I decided to go to the morning one.

That seemed a wise decision, because after rain yesterday (and rain forecast) today was a decent day. In town I just got a drink and then went to the cinema to see Black Phone 2.

Trailers were ones I had seen before: The Bone Temple, Keeper, Shelby Oaks and Fnaf 2. I’m planning on seeing 3/4 of them. Also there was a standee up for Frankenstein! Yay! And a poster for Shelby Oaks. My intent is to see both next week, but I’m really hoping my glasses are sorted by then.

Anyway! Thoughts on Black Phone 2 under the cut (though trying not to be too spoilery in case anyone wants to see it)

After the film I had half an hour till the next train so I went to cex (to see if they had the IT films which the site said they did but alas I didn’t see them), the bank to put money in (I’m glad I did more on that soon) and smiths to get the new fantastic four.

On the train I used the net to send a message and bam! I got hit by news of 5 Seconds Of Summer doing a tour! This isn’t a surprise, preorders of the album on the uk site are meant to include a presale link, but ugh. First off yay! There’s a Birmingham date, but also boo presale is next week and it’s at the venue I saw Sleep Token.

Anyone around when I got the Sleep Token ticket will know that was insanely stressful and took forever. I should be able to get a ticket if I’m lucky (vip is likely out of the question though) but I’m really not looking forward to it.

(I guess it’s good I didn’t use those birthday voucher or got anything from the flying tiger Halloween sale)

Once I got back home I just flopped and dozed off, cause ugh I feel a cold has come on. It seems the net is back to acting up, disconnecting for a minute or two randomly and I dunno why. Blah.

I’m hoping tomorrow is a lazy day, cause Saturday is heading to the vet (hopefully Naryu will be fine and not need anything other than her jabs)

But now I’m just gonna flop some more and watch the new Taskmaster ep

Today has been largely eh. Last night my eyes started to feel achy but I wrote it of a bit as tiredness. This morning it was back but worse, to the point I couldn’t even do my uni reading (accompanied by my tummy feeling funny). Thus I stayed in bed all morning and part of the afternoon, which was annoying.

But now my eyes seem to be ok so… spooky season catch up.

***

17: The Amory Wars: Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness Volume 1 (chapters 1-3)

As mentioned I got The Amory awards from the Coheed gig. Having read it all now (finishing it yesterday) I have a few thoughts. As mentioned when I started reading I am a bit lost. I figured it being a volume 1 meant it would be a good place to start but instead it was dealing with stuff from the prior stuff so I was a bit lost. And then just as I got into it it finished. I’ll have to see if I can find the rest.

18: Pokémon ZA, seapeekay phasmo stream, nine bodies in a Mexican morgue, eso

Pokémon ZA is here, and other days too, largely because of alpha Pokémon. These are giant Pokémon in wild zones, at much higher levels than others, with glowing eyes. They’re highly aggressive and, thus, so scary and evil. Like if you see one you should just turn around and run cause it WILL target you instead of your Pokémon.

The phasmo stream I half watched but still was spooky. Seapeekay felt like the opposite of a final girl, cause he just touched a glowing orb and wanted to ‘make friends’ with the ghosts/demons.

I still have no idea who the killer is in Nine bodies. Sometimes with these things I’ll have a theory, but right now I’m not sure at all. I do suspect that it’s got nothing to do with the drugs on the plane.

19: Wednesday - Hyde and woe seek, Dungeons and dodongos, Pokémon ZA, dead by daylight, the grotto - buried alive

Wednesday is the first ep of tbe second half of season 2. The highlight of the ep is, no doubt, Wednesday’s unexpected new spirit guide. Yes it’s incredibly tenuous that it’s them but their interactions have been so fun. I’m sure I had other thoughts but my brain has none right now.

The first ep of The Grotto got added to the Magnus Archives feed so I listened out of interest. I am curious about it after the first ep. I a. Curious if the place it’s set having so many tunnels is gonna be a plot point

20: Pokémon ZA, Strange New Worlds - Strange New Worlds, Terror Of The Zygons, Ghost Files - The Basement That Shook Shane: Investigating Bracken Manor

Mondays stuff was covered in the birthday post, but Ghost Files I watched perhaps a bit too late cause I kept pausing cause of my focus being distracted.

21: The Amory Wars, Exquisite Corpses 2 +3+4+5, Eso

Yesterday, since mum was at the library for an afternoon so I decided to read some of my comics. I ended up reading Exquisite Corpses. Issues 2 and 3 I had picked up from a Birmingham trip months ago, but didn’t read them, and 4+5 came last week.

I am kinda glad I was able to, unintentionally, binge them this way. The concept of it is that a town has been cut off (on Halloween appropriately) and powerful families from certain states each send in a killer. The goal is to have the last killer standing (and so gain power over the others for 4 years). The people of the unfortunate town are, unfortunately, expendable.

The first issue showed one killer getting recruited so it seemed like he would be the ‘main killer’ that we follow, however he hasn’t appeared in these other issues. Instead each one has put a spotlight on one (or two), usually with one of them dying. So far it has been pretty good so far as well as pretty horrific in places. (Especially the killers in 2+3)

Hopefully I can find time to read the other comics that came, Event Horizon and The Umbrella Academy.

My hope tomorrow is I feel well enough to see Black Phone 2 but that’s also dependant on the weather and I sense that’ll be bad. I guess we’ll see.

I had intended to watch a few things on my list this week, but if my eyes are this achy I might not be able to. (I was thinking of Event Horizon and Lifeforce.)

Now though I’m just gonna snuggle Midna before heading up.

So yesterday was my birthday, I had intended to make a post about it last night but alas, my eyes went too achy. (And the spooky season catch up will be in another post)

I didn’t actually get much for the day, the main thing from mum (and her friend) was Pokémon ZA, which since it was a code I had been on since release (on and off cause of gig/opticians/tiredness). However! It did come with the bonus stuff from Nintendo which came a few days ago so I had that to open.

Inside the was a cap with a mega stone symbol on it, a mug with the starters on (with a lumiose symbol inside), an umbrella (I think with the starters on I can’t remember what the pic on the site had), a set of pins of the starters, a figurine of the starters and two figurines of the mega charizard. It is quite a lot for a bonus! I haven’t taken the figurines out of their packs but the pins look so nice as does the mug. (Some pics are here

(And mum’s friend also sent chocolate)

I did spend some more time on Pokémon ZA and I am enjoying it so far. I now have a wartortle (it did feel wrong not choosing Bulbasaur from the kanto starters but I really needed a good water type so) and battled my first rogue mega evolution which felt straightforward enough. The second one however was much harder.

I do feel that the game has done an odd choice though. The game has something called the ZA a royale and you have to climb the ranks from Z to A by fighting trainers in the battle zones at night. The thing I find odd is the game just leapt me forward from rank V to rank F which, I dunno, it felt kinda like cheating to skip that much? But other than that it’s pretty fun. I need to go clothes showing properly now I have more in game cash (though I do like my current fit that I stumbled on) and I’m debating switching one of my team for something else though I’m not sure what yet.

I also had lots of Midna cuddles, at one point Naryu was curled on my lap so Midna climbed on my chest and rubbed her lil face against me which was so sweet.

Also cause of my birthday I got a bunch of birthday codes from various plays and some are so annoying. Some last a good few weeks, whereas others are only for a week and so are practically useless.

In the afternoon (after finding the remote that went awol) I put on the first ep of Strange New Worlds on the itv player. It felt like a bit of an odd one to open with as it was half dealing with the aftermath of discovery season 2 (which I vaguely recall) while he actual ep itself was a traditional ‘first contact goes wrong’ kinda story. I am interested in finding out more about the new characters, cause I’ve only seen them from Star Trek timelines (a mobile game with characters from all the shows) and the transporter chief is so cute. Hopefully the next few eps will flesh the new characters out a bit more. But overall it was a good ep but didn’t feel like a great first ep to start with (and damn the eugenics wars info at the end is so depressing).

I had to pause it at some point cause we had a delivery which was a mix of pet food and, thankfully in a separate box, Doctor Who season 13. Also during it we had some of the red velvet cake which was nom but damn, mum didn’t even put candles or anything before just slicing pieces.

In the night we had dominos cause a birthday email came through (not mine, theirs) and it was good, but not as nice as I remember it being last time.

Then I watched Terror Of The Zygons, the first episode on the Who ray boxset.

The episode has the Doctor bought back to Earth to investigate the destruction of oil rigs off the coast of Scotland, which turn out to be caused by a monster…

Zygons is a bit of an odd one in some ways. From the booklet (and the making off) the story was meant to round off the previous season and be 6 parts. Instead this the first of season 13 story and it’s a 4 parter. I do wonder what got trimmed to make to 4 instead of 6. (As I’ve mentioned before sometimes 6 parters are too long, but sometimes not.)

The Zygons themselves are a really great design and it’s clear why they stuck in peoples memories despite only appearing in this ep of old who. Their organic technology of their ships are really unique (if a bit funny to watch sometimes) though it does mean the ships exterior (which is a good looking model!) feels like it doesn’t fit. Their whispery voices do make it hard to hear them sometimes which is a shame though. Their Skarasen is a great concept but it does kinda feel like the execution wasn’t as good as they hoped for which is a shame. (I do wonder if those 2 other eps would have featured it more and so they were glad it didn’t!) I wonder if the creature is still there, lurking in the loch.

It is a bit sad this is the last Unit ep. Like it’s a good ep for them but doesn’t feel like the last time we’ll see them (bar the odd appearance). The Brigadier is always great of course. It’s a shame it’s Harry’s last main ep too cause he was really good in this (and his actor was so scary when a zygon impersonated him). Also Sarah Jane was brilliant as always, it was nice seeing her able to put her investigation skills to work (though what was she thinking going down a secret tunnel!).

The last ep did feel like a bit of a sudden shift, changing from Scotland to London. Like it did make sense the Zygons would attack there but it did feel like a bit of a leap. And the attacks on the oil rigs being just a ‘test’ felt odd too. (Though I did love the doctor’s comment on us relying on oil which still resonates now sadly).

But ye as you can tell birthday was pretty much a nerdy day which was good.

Today I’m hoping to do comic reading as well as Fortnite and Pokémon, then bake off.

The rest of the week is gonna be fairly lazy, with mornings doing uni stuff, afternoons on Pokémon and nights being watching stuff. (Apart from Saturday which has Naryu’s follow up appointment.) I am still hoping to see Black Phone 2, either tomorrow or Thursday, though it might just be it (instead of it/Paranorman Thursday) cause of eyes being achy.

Next week should be Shelby Oaks! The cinema finally added it to coming soon but there’s only one showing Friday thus far. However they also added two preview showings so I’m considering seeing it and Frankenstein the same day. I’m hoping my glasses are sorted that day.

DW is seeing some issues due to today's Amazon outage. For right now it looks like the site is loading, but it may be slow. Some of our processes like notifications and journal search don't appear to be running and can't be started due to rate limiting or capacity issues. DW could go down later if Amazon isn't able to improve things soon, but our services should return to normal when Amazon has cleared up the outage.

Edit: all services are running as of 16:12 CDT, but there is definitely still a backlog of notifications to get through.

Edit 2: and at 18:20 CDT everything's been running normally for about the last hour.

So yesterday ended up being pretty tiring. I went to the opticians in the morning and yep, seems my eyes have gotten worse, especially the right one which has got noticeably worse. So no wonder I’m having trouble reading stuff on the tv and have headaches. The optician thinks there’s nothing wrong with that, cause he couldn’t see anything but did refer me to the eye department ‘just in case’ (he did make sure to stress about three times he was sure they’d find nothing). It’s gonna be a week/week and a half till I get the new glasses alas boo.

When home we caught up on things, Sister Boniface, Harry Wild and then watched Murder She Wrote. Then I went on Pokémon some more. Aloha Pokémon are no joke they can be so terrifying what’s up with that?? I haven’t got too much further but I’ve switched my flaffy out cause the game gives you a shiny mareep which is so cute. (It’s fur instead of yellow was pink so it looked like candy floss!)

But then I just went so tired I ended up dozing. It made me glad I didn’t see Black Phone 2 yesterday I fear I’d have slept in the cinema.

I had planned to go to the horror/gothic market in town today (even getting extra money out when I went to the opticians) but between waking up late and rain I’ve not gone. The rain hasn’t been too heavy, but it’s about half an hour each way to walk and SoI fear getting caught in it if it gets heavier. The site for it did have pics from prior ones and it wasn’t exactly as I expected it to be, but it has had pretty rocks and dice before (but knowing my luck if I went it would have neither).

So instead I’m just gonna stay home today instead, then watch High Potential and Wednesday before dnd and then twitch con and the fangoria awards stream later (unless I get eepy sleepy).

But now tomorrow is the next month of the pass so here’s the round of this last month.

Month 3: September 20th- October 20th
20th: The Bad Guys 2 + Thunderbirds Double Bill (Trapped In The Sky + Terror In New York City)
2nd: Curse Of Frankenstein
6th: Him + Mystery film - Good Boy
8th: The Long Walk
15th: Night Of The Zoopocalypse, Tron Ares

So it’s the third month of the pass and I knew October would be the busiest time for it. It’s just over halfway through the month and I’ve seen 6 things already. (Which, and I checked, is more films than I seen inthe cinema during the whole of 2024 which is crazy)

I think my ranking of the films would be this:
The Long Walk
Good Boy
Night Of The Zoopocalypse
Curse Of Frankenstein
The Bad Guys 2
Tron Ares
Him

Thunderbirds isn’t placed there cause it’s very much its own thing (and technically it’s not a film but 2 eps of a show instead) but if it was it’s pretty high. A lot of the ones this month feel at similar level and I have to admit I did enjoy them (I dunno if that’s the right term for Him though). Thoughts on each of them are in. The film thoughts/cinema adventures tag (I might come back and add them individually later)

There are three more trips planned before the month is over. Black Phone 2 is sometime in the coming week, I had planned Tuesday but it’s looking to be changed (mum did ask why not tomorrow but I just want a lazy birthday instead of doing a morning showing, plus we have deliveries due). If it’s Friday I might watch Paranorman as well. Then the following week has Frankenstein on Wednesday, yipee! I might pop in the art gallery and ask about the art stuff that day too.

Then there’s Shelby Oaks, which is due to be out Halloween. Trouble is it’s not listed on the coming soon section of the site so I’m not sure if it will be. There is a mystery showing on that Tuesday which might be it, but it could also be Bugonia (though it’s also a shopping day which would make it tiring). So that’s very much a wait and see.

But now it’s time to snuggle, decide which of the kanto starters to choose from on ZA (I got an unexpected side mission which lead to it right before I went to bed but I couldn’t decide) and watch the stuff as planned.

Edit: And just after I hit post the rain came and hard so yeah I made the right choice to stay home.
